July's meeting will feature our own Jerry Brasseur who will present the upgraded application, Popcorn 3, by Roxio. From the Roxio website, here is a description of Popcorn 3:

Popcorn® 3 lets you enjoy your video anywhere you want, on the playback device of your choice. Easily make high quality copies of your DVDs and movies. Take television recordings from your Mac to the portable device of your choice for on-the-go viewing or fit 4 hours of video on a single layer-DVD. Now with batch video conversion, support for a broad range of consumer devices, and exclusive support for TiVoToGoTM transfers, your video will go everywhere you do.

As part of his presentation, Jerry will also demonstrate MacTheRipper, which is a freeware DVD ripper (extractor) for Mac OS X. This product is made to backup DVDs you have legally purchased for personal use. MacTheRipper sets the disc's region code to '0' for region-free by default. You do not need to play the DVD with DVD Player in order to rip it to your hard drive. MTR is also able to extract DVDs that have been damaged or improperly mastered.

Time permitting, Jerry hopes to also do a quick showing of HandBrake. HandBrake is an open-source, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 converter. It’s useful for people who want to convert their DVDs to run on their iPods or any MPEG-4 device.

Members MUST park in the West side parking area and enter the building from that lot. If anyone parks elsewhere (N or S lots), the cars will be towed away since these lots are only for fire-truck access.
